To assess the environmental noise impact of an industrial process or construction activity, generally a baseline survey is carried out when no construction activity is taking place to establish the ambient normal background noise levels. Whilst construction activity is taking place a further monitoring period is then carried out to ascertain the impact that the activity is having.
